This is my first time making a screencast. But I wanted to show how I go from analog to digital. The process is something I get asked about a lot. I posted this design on dribbble yesterday and got a wonderful response. The word “meditate” comes from Psalm 119:15 and is part of my one19 project. So after seeing how much people enjoyed these I wanted to follow through and make these available.

You can now order the meditate button from my shop for only $5. Check out the shop here.
Good stuff Kyle. What did you end up using for the screen cast?
Thanks man. I used the built-in screen recorded with Quicktime. Decent, but not great.
Nice. It get’s the job done. I for sure want to get my hands on these. Very well done.
What scanner do you use / prefer?
I use an Epson 3-in-1 that has a flatbed scanner on it. I usually just scan in at 300 dpi and it works great.
LOVE it and love that you set music to it!
You should do more of them, very cool!
Love it, similar sort of process to myself when i do custom typography.
You’re cool. Like, super cool.
Hey, love seeing the process. I think you could of potentially saved tons of time by adjusting the levels to isolate black/white, selecting the black (wand), creating a path, and exporting paths to .ai. Once in .ai, Object » Path » Simplify. This process isn’t the greatest for detailed work, but given the roughish, handdrawn style, I imagine it could work quite nicely for this style.
Now, to the important stuff — when is the store opening?
Just bought a set of these there, really sweet little buttons, looking forward to pinning these on.
Just got my buttons in the mail there, they look great. Cheers kyle!
hi kyle, i’m a graphic design student from b.a., argentina. i found your page because of a tweet written by teixido. as you can see at my page i really like the ‘hand-drawn’ thing but i’m just starting. i wanted to say that your work is really inspiring.
cheers!
